Kesha and Ashenfelter were reportedly first introduced by mutual friends in 2014 and have been going strong as a couple ever since then.
Prior to becoming romantically involved with her current boyfriend, the singer was linked to drummer Alex Carapetis, and she briefly dated rapper T-Pain.
The two are well known for maintaining an open relationship, which she elaborated on during an interview with Attitude.
Specifically, Kesha pointed out that, although she has genuine affection for her boyfriend, he is typically very understanding about her attraction to other people.
'He's a sweetheart, but he also lets me be me ... I'll call him and be like, 'I had fun tonight, I met a sweet girl and we had a really good time.' And he'll say, 'Cool babe, I love you.' It's so nice,' she said.
The Raising Hell singer also noted that, even though she will be interested in other people, she is steadfast in returning to Ashenfelter's side.
She remarked that her boyfriend 'knows that I'm just a wild spirit that needs to run free, and that I always come back to the barn for apples from my boy!'
The hitmaker also noted that she prefers to pay attention to the personality of any potential partners above any other qualities.

She said, 'It's about how everything is fine as long as we're honest with each other...That's the understanding we have, a kinky understanding is what it's called. As long as there are no secrets, no lies, no hiding anything, let's just have fun!'
